Dr Vora is a one of a kind, who believes in utilizing his skills and knowledge to make the world better. Our path crossed many times but we finally met only a few years ago. His reputation preceded him, as his peers extolled about his personality and his dedication to our specialty. There are very few orthodontists in this world who dedicate their career to fundamental research. Such professionals are very much needed, since without their demanding work, sciences would not be able to thrive. The fruit of such labor protects the public from misguided treatments and unfounded science. It is common knowledge that funds for sciences are scarce and therefore such a career choice is also a labor of love. To get to his position at the School of Dentistry at University of British Columbia, he has had to resolve many hurdles. His journey began in Mumbai where he obtained his dental degree, he then completed a PhD in Boston and followed by a degree at University of Washington in Seattle. With his education and his position as an academician, there is no doubt that his treatment standards is amongst the highest and the most tailored to his patients’ diagnosis. Without a doubt, if I needed a treatment, I would ask him to do mine.

You will be hard pressed to find another dental health care provider with a combination of a positive personality and tremendous dedication like Dr.Lam’s. You will always find him greeting you with a big smile (which can be easily seen even with a mask on!). He is always upbeat, excited and genuinely caring. In fact, the word Helios (of the sun) was chosen to reflect Dr. Lam’s “sunny” personality. When faced with his humble and approachable demeanour, it is easy to miss the fact that Dr. Lam is amongst the most experienced and knowledgeable clear aligner providers in the Orthodontic world. Dr. Lam began is dental journey at the University of Montreal followed by General Practice Residencies in New York and University of Washington. His passion for giving people a beautiful smile led him to pursue an Orthodontic residency at the University of Montreal, after which he moved to Vancouver. Despite the many years spent in formal training, Dr. Lam dedicated another 8 years training under world-renowned leaders in clear aligner treatments before finally opening up his own practice. For Dr. Lam, patients are always first. He spends hours updating his knowledge to provide the most current data-backed treatments to patients. He is relentless in striving for a perfect treatment for each patient. He certainly embodies the heart and soul of Helios Orthodontics.
